The difference here is how your pump will intake the water, which is done through a pickup tube. Pontoon boat kits come with an aluminum pickup tube that is universal to all pontoon boats. There is a mounting plate that bolts to the pontoon and a tube that extends down into the water. The through-hull boat washdown kit comes with a one-piece pickup tube that is meant to be mounted through a fiberglass hull. The universal boat washdown kit comes with a piece of clear tubing that simply needs it's end submerged to properly draw water.

With two hookups, you can have two convenient locations to plug your hose into.
